THE BUSINESS
With locations around the country, our client is a leading engineering and design consultancy undertaking various infrastructure Projects in the UK which include highways, rail, utilities and environmental support services.
The business urgently needs to bring on board a Senior Commercial Manager with significant experience within the highways maintenance sector ideally having been involved with HA MAC and Local Authority term maintenance highways contracts, this is because of a number of TFL bids of the verge of being awarded.
THE ROLE
* Ideal experience will be to have the ability to lead and manage client relationships at a senior level, especially dealing with claims and disputes if and when they arise.
* Support the bidding process including the negotiation of compliance with the company's procedures and favourable contract terms and conditions
* Focusing on Local Authority and Highways Agency work, you will have an excellent track record managing teams on contracts ranging between £35-50m per annum.
* Liaise with project support functions such as finance, supply chain, risk and ensure an all management of reporting, including all periodic reporting functions.
* Ensure that adequate records are maintained in respect of project issues and commercial management processes across highway maintenance teams.
* Supporting the Head of Commercial ensuring variances between planned budget expenditure and incurred costs are identified and appropriate action taken to minimise costs and liabilities to the business.
* Manage subcontract procurement and accounts across London.
* Ensure insurance issues are managed in accordance with procedures.
* Lead and Manage a team of QS and other commercial team members.
KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Proven leadership and strong people management skills with an ability to develop integrated team working
* Previous experience of managing commercial teams with a clear understanding of commercial systems across Local Authority/Highways Maintenance sectors will be advantageous.
* Commercial business acumen able to demonstrate significant improvements in efficiencies/ costs in previous roles and of course, be a team player.
